September 24
A selection of winners of The Australian Beauty Awards 2012 were presented their awards at an exclusive lunch hosted by Emma Freedman at Chiswick restaurant today.
Up-and-coming singer Sarsha Simone performed for guests in the Woollahra garden setting in the fourth annual instalment of Australia’s biggest ever magazine beauty initiative.
The event gave eight cult item winners - of the 47 Judges’ Choice winners - the opportunity to receive their awards in front of ACP women’s magazine editors, leading beauty industry executives and media and beauty commentators.
Highlights included: SK-II Facial Treatment Essence winning the cult skincare award, Chanel No. 5 Eau de Parfum winning the cult fragrance award and Nivea Essential Care Lip Balm receiving the cult lip product award.
In the three months leading up to yesterday’s unveiling, a panel of industry experts assessed over 8,000 submitted product entries across eight categories - body, eyes, face, fragrance, hair, hands and nails, lips, and skincare.
Judges considered the quality, value, originality, packaging and design, technical manufacture and innovation and consumer experience when trying, processing and judging each product.
Some of the judges included: Deborah Thomas (ACP Magazines’ Director of Media, Public Affairs and Brand Development), Stephanie Darling (Brand Ambassador and madison’s Beauty and Living Director) and Jackie Maxted (BEAUTY HEAVEN’s Founder and Managing Director).
Beauty Awards Brand Ambassador Stephanie Darling said: “The cosmetic and skincare market is as fast-turning and ever-changing as the fashion market. Our perception of beauty evolves as trends do.
“The Australian Beauty Awards aims to put a spotlight on the products that make a difference to how women look and feel. We’ve found that the award winners in the past years often exceed the beauty trends of the time and become staples in our and our readers’ beauty cabinets.”
ACP Magazines’ Director of Media, Public Affairs and Brand Development Deborah Thomas said: “Year after year, we are so pleased at the response we receive from our readers. The Australian Beauty Awards equips consumers with trusted information to help them make great beauty choices.
“We congratulate this year’s winners and of course all the finalists who impressed our judges with their innovation and excellence.”
ACP Magazines’ readers were also invited to vote for their favourite products via the website – www.beautyawards.com.au - which culminated in 45 Readers’ Choice awards chosen by fans Australia-wide.
The 3,322 people who participated and voted for their favourite products in all categories in the Australian Beauty Awards 2012 went into the running to win the Ultimate Beauty Cupboard, a collection of hundreds of fabulous beauty products, valued at over $40,000. One lucky winner received this prize.
The full list of winners will be revealed to the public in a dedicated beauty supplement in The Australian Women’s Weekly, Cosmopolitan, Woman’s Day, madison and Grazia.
