Men's Style Australia introduces 'Men of Influence' 2012

April 16

Men's Style Australia in association with Nokia Lumia will launch its prestigious annual 'Men of Influence' list issue tomorrow night (Tuesday, April 17) at Matt Moran's CHISWICK in Woollahra.

This year's list includes 'influential' men under the age of 45 from the worlds of business, the arts, design, sports, fashion, management, the media and more.

“Influence can be a hard concept to define but each of these men is inspirational and influential both within and outside their fields," says Men’s Style editor Michael Pickering. "I've found successful people generally have something useful to say about what they have learnt on the journey and that is certainly the case with the men on this year’s list.”

Some of those to make this year's fifth annual list include actor Lachy Hulme, about to appear in Beaconsfield and later to play Kerry Packer in the Nine network production screening later this year; Josh Lawson, the engaging star of Any Questions for Ben; Daniel Henshall, who scared the hell out of us as John Bunting in Snowtown; the host of Mornings on Nine, David Campbell; swimming’s newest superstar James Magnussen; pop sensation Gotye; Australian cricket captain Michael Clarke; sports presenting all-rounder Michael Slater, and; former wunderkind Kevin Rudd press secretary and now Today show political commentator Lachlan Harris.

The latest generation of Internet 'kings' make the list, including founder of the international phenomenon Freelancer.com Matt Barrie, aggressive online retailer Ruslan Kogan and BigCommerce founders Eddie Machaalani and Mitchell Harper.

From the sporting world, two-time Paralympic wheelchair champion Kurt Fearnley, veteran league champion Nathan Hindmarsh, Wallaby and charity worker David Pocock and GWS co-captain Luke Power are all recognised as men of influence in their fields.

Creative visionaries include Kelvin Ho, the founder of design firm AKIN Creative responsible for some of the fashion world’s most amazing shop fit-outs; stylish Nick Tobias, principal of architecture and design company Tobias Partners and former judge on Top Design, and; Nashen Moodley, the director of the Sydney Film Festival at just 33-years-old.

Also included are the man behind national success story Crust Pizza, Costa Anastasiadis; Brian and Vincent Wu, the twins who’ve turned their cult store INCU into a fashion destination, and; Brett Murrihy from the phenomenally successful music agency 'Artist Voice'.

The Men's Style Australia annual 'Men of Influence' issue is on sale today, Monday, 16 April.

Members of the list attending the CHISWICK event to launch the issue include Michael Slater, Nathan Hindmarsh, Tom Waterhouse, Matt Barrie, Ruslan Kogan, Lachlan Harris, Paul Anderson, James Hird, Nick Tobias, Costa Anastasiadis, Nashen Moodley, Aaron Quirk and Brett Murrihy.
